Once again the training project is held during the 5 days leading up to the Circus Festival. The festival this year is sure to be a special occasion as it will be the last one in Tasmania until 2001.
Training opportunities on offer will include aerial skills, acrobatics, tumbling, juggling, slack rope, tight wire, street theatre and clowning. Other workshops are yet to be confirmed. We will also set aside sessions for young inexperienced performers so they can work on an act if they so wish.
Kareena Oates and Haggis McLeod are just two of the national and international trainers who will be there to teach.
The training project is restricted to 40 participants and costs just $140, so Please Book Early. To secure your place in the project send the booking form together with a deposit (cheque or money order) for $70 payable to:
Tasmanian Circus Festival
Lone Star
Golconda Tas 7254
Australia
The balance is payable on arrival.
Judging on past experience, the project will fill up by early January. We will respond to your application as soon as it is received.
There is a coupon to fill in to apply for the training project. I am sure they will accept a hand-written one. It requires name, postal address, phone number and a short answer to "Are there any particular skills you would like to learn?". A cheque/money order for $70 payable to Tasmanian Circus Festival should be enclosed.
How to get there: Fly to Launceston. Alternatively travel on the overnight boat, the Spirit of Tasmania (toll free booking 1800 030344) from Melbourne. If you let us know your arrival details by Feb 10, we will pick you up from Launceston. Golconda is 50km north east of Launceston on the B 81.
It is advisable to book your travel early. There are the 150 Years of Circus celebrations as well as the World Kite Festival going on in Launceston at the same time.
Accommodation: There will be idyllic camp sites for your tent, caravan accommodation (you pay a little extra), log fires, Trevor's Wholefood Canteena and the legendary Buskers Bar.
