Klagenfurt
Capital of Carinthia, Austria's most southern province,
close to the Italian border. The festival will take place
at: Schloss Welzenegg, Viktor Welzerplatz 1, 9020 Klagenfurt,
around ATIK's Big Top. Schloss Welzenegg is a castle
located east to the center of Klagenfurt. (Which also means
that this year the festival is not happening close to the
lake Wörthersee as it has been in the last
years.)
How to get there:
-
By airplane/train:
Vienna and Salzburg are international flight
destinations. From both towns there are trains going
frequently to
Klagenfurt. Catch up your train in Vienna at the train
station Südbahnhof (close to the subway
station Südtirolerplatz, subway line U1),
in Salzburg at the Hauptbahnhof. The train
ride will take in both cases about 4 hours. There is also an
airport in Klagenfurt, but with low traffic and expensive
transfer tickets.
-
By car:
The main highways to Klagenfurt are the
Tauernautobahn and the
Südautobahn.
How to find the festival place:
- Coming by train: From the
main train station take any bus line (which will
be 40, 41 or 42) and change it
at Heiligengeistplatz for line 60 (direction
Steingasse). Ask where to get off for
Castle Welzenegg. From there it's a short foot
walk.
- Coming by car: From wherever
you are coming manage to get on the
Südautobahn (A2). Leave it at the sign
Klagenfurt Ost. Thus you will be lead
into the
Görtschitztalstraße. Follow it
and turn off at Völkermarktstraße
to the right (direction Klagenfurt). Turn off from
Völkermarktstraße
to the right at Görzer Allee (after
you have passed the furniture shop KIKA).
Follow it until you reach the Castle
Welzenegg.
