Hi,

This is my biography page where I try to relate some information about myself so that you, the CyberSurfer, can learn a little about me.

First off, I currently work for Oracle Corporation as an Internal Corporate DBA on both Oracle7 and Rdb databases. I became an Oracle employee when Rdb was sold off by Digital Equipment Corporation. This has been a great turning point in my career!

My job related areas of expertise are wide ranging. I am comfortable supporting and working with: Rdb, SQL/Services and ODBC, Oracle7, SQL*Net, ACMS (an OLTP Monitor) and its related products, DECADMIRE (a code generator), OpenVMS (including DCL and TPU programming), and System/Network Administration (mainly OpenVMS but I'm coming up to speed on HP-UX).

Outside of work, I began a project to convert a Windows astronomy shareware program, known as SkyMap, to the Macintosh platform. Unfortunately, my job and home life have overtaken this project, so I've turned this over to someone else to complete. We are hoping to have the port completed in the Spring of '97. Stay tuned here for details. Also, feel free to Email MacSkymap@usa.net if you'd like more info on this project.

Speaking of which, my computer of choice at home is a Power Macintosh. I used to be a Wintel bigot (even though I've never really liked MS-Windows), but after a month of working with a Mac, I realized which system made more sense to me. If you'd like to discuss (not argue or flame ;^) with me the pros and cons of MacOS vs. Windows (and Windows 95 especially), feel free to email me. Before you critisize my decision to get a Mac over a PC, understand that I have owned PC's, I currently use a Pentium based PC at work, as well as UNIX and OpenVMS Workstations. I feel I'm very familiar with GUI interfaces, and I prefer the MacOS over the others for a home computer that myself and my family can use and be productive on.

Also, you might want to check out the Evangelist web site to learn more about why the Macintosh blows away other platforms (IMHO ;^).

Hobby wise, I am a member, and current President of the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society. I own a 10" Dobsonian Telescope that I like to use for public star parties and at remote (read: mountain ;^) sites.

I am also dabbling at juggling, and can do a 3 ball cascade and variations off of it somewhat comfortably. I find juggling to be a great stress relief, and keep a set of juggling balls handy at work (they are soft and good to throw at computer screens and coworkers also ;^).

Finally, I enjoy Model and High Power Rocketry. Although at the current time I am not really active with the local club, the Colorado Springs Rocket Society (COSROCS), I am a member and hope to get back into building and launching sometime soon.
