Only Me (1929)

[Lupino Lane]

Silent, black and white, 15 minute short. A well-dressed but inebriated man decides to attend a variety show at the Palace Theatre. During the show, both he and the performers are continually harassed by a practical joke-loving boy who is sitting in a box seat near the stage. Soon the inebriated man himself begins to cause disruptions, with his overly emphatic opinions of the various acts. Lupino Lane plays 24 different roles in this cute short. Not only does he play obnoxious patrons, but all of the acts on stage as well -- even the female ones.

At 03:18, Lupino Lane performs the 2 minute juggling act that opens the show. He starts with a competent 4 ball juggle, and then does some faked balance tricks, including a real 3 ball shower. He next does some tricks with a mouthstick and balls, and finishes with a solid juggle of 3 very large flaming torches that are put out in mid-act by a fire extinguisher.
