Camping- Camping is permitted only in designated areas. The far camping area near the indoor showers are adult only camping. Stake down your tent, as the winds are unpredictable. Keep your tent zipped and leave the rainfly on to prevent bugs and dust from entering.
Indoor showers are located in the stone building. The beach showers require clothing. A hot shower is available, please use sparingly.
Cooking facilities and catering equipment are not available for those preparing their own meals. Please use souvenir mugs (available in the yurt). No disposable beverage cups are available.
Meal Plan- The meal plan includes breakfast, mid-day snack, and dinner. Cost is $150 for the week. The plan is limited. We expect that it will fill up. Make your stay more pleasant and participate. There may be extra meals available for those not on the plan, please see Cindy.
Security-
Your festival ID must be kept throughout the festival. There will be a security guard from 8pm to 6am. At 10pm, security will ask anyone without ID to leave. The park gate is closed at 11pm, so be back by then.
We will watch your valuables, traveller's cheques, passports, tickets, etc. which you do not need during the week. Check them at the beverage bar in the yurt.
The park is open to the public all day, so please keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
Rules and Regs- No drinking any alcoholic beverages outside the white cable. You could be arrested. Illegal drugs are not permitted in the park. No nudity in the park. Women may be topless on the beach with some discretion.
Misc- There is a bulletin board with announcements and schedules etc. Got a question? Look for the responsible person on the list on the bulletin board.
Reservations for kayaks and outriggers are in the yurt. Please dispose of glass in the recycling containers.
First Aid- Sunburn is no fun, it can put you in hospital. Use a good waterproof sunscreen and wear a T-shirt when snorkelling. Wear a wide brim hat for hiking and beachcombing.
There are some hostile bugs here. It's unlikely anyone will see a centipede or scorpion but be cautious. The first aid station is in the yurt, see Kaitlin our first aid co-ordinator. There is also a first aid kit in the white van. Staff bacteria is in the air and in the water. All cuts should be treated!!!
Transportation- Book your interisland or direct flights in and out of Kona (Keahole Int'l Airport), not Hilo! Check out Travel Time Discount Tickets at 415-677-0799 (fax)391-1856. If you have to overnight it in Honolulu, a cheap place to stay is the Shower Tree Inn (808)833-1411. They offer a free airport shuttle, a bed in a quad room from $20.00 and single rooms from $33.00.
From Kona airport you can:
- Rent a car: We recommend that groups share rental cars. Prices vary, check around. For those with European Drivers licence, call Cherri at 1-800-942-2242 for a real good deal ($65/wk). Hawaiian & Aloha Air frequently offer good deals. Always reserve well in advance, and reconfirm before arrival.
- Share a taxi: $48.00 plus tip ($40 for a groupshuttle) call C&C Shared Ride Shuttle (808)329-0008 (advance reservations required).
- HVC Shuttle Van: Reserve HVC's scheduled shuttle van. $10.00 per person, see registration form.
- Hitchhike.
Bonus- We have booked the Park from Feb. 8th-18th for those interested in a longer stay. No food, transportation, or festival activities are available (through HVC) on non-festival dates, but hey....it's free!.
