"Ammanford is to be the home of the first Welsh celtic festival on 26-27 july. The
atmosphere will be set on friday, july 26 when the organisers hope to provide street
entertainment in Ammanfords Quay street and the arcade. the event is supported by
Ammanford chamber of trade, Ammanford joint venture commitee and the town council. Mike
stephens, of road show productions said "we are very pleased to be able to use our
expertise in this field to help establish what will be an important annual event" Mrs
Jane Donovan of Ammanford Chamber fo Trade said "We hope to put Ammanford fairly and
squarely on the cultural map. It is our hope to attract visitors from far afield as well
as local people."
A council spokesperson said " The council is keen to support The Welsh Celtic Festival
which will enrich the town culturally."
Julian Davies, secretery of the festival committee said " we would like to hear from any
buskers,circus acts, jugglers and any type of street performers interested in supporting
the festival.
There will be crafts, folk music, beer tents and other attractions in Ammanford
Recreation Ground on saturday, july 27."
