When: May 28th - 30th, 1994.
Footbag is a competitive sport, similar to the popular game played with the Hacky Sack(R). At this tournament, players will compete in one or more of the following established games: Footbag Net, a singles or doubles net game, like tennis or volleyball, where players use only their feet to kick the footbag over a 5-foot-high net; Freestyle Footbag, a singles or team judged competition, where players perform footbag tricks in choreographed routines set to music; and Footbag Golf, much like the popular disc golf game.
This event will be attended by most of the best footbag athletes in the world, including: world footbag net champion Danny Borsky (Vancouver, B. C.); women's singles net world champion Jody Welch (Mountain View, CA); women's world champion freestyle team Sam Conlon and Lisa McDaniel (Berkeley, CA), and many more. Competitors will travel from Canada and all of the western states for this event. Many of the top-ranked women and men in the sport live here in the Bay Area.
Competitors and spectators of all abilities are welcome. There will be several free events for first-time and novice competitors, with opportunities to win prizes donated by the sponsors. There will also be a full-time disc jockey on the tournament site providing music for everyone to kick to. There is no admission charge for spectators. World-class net and freestyle finals will begin at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 31.
